Know Your Models
GPT mini and nano
OpenAI · Lesson 2 of 14
Cheap and quick for the same small job, thousands of times.
These are smaller cousins of the big GPT models.
They answer fast and cost very little per request.
They are great at sorting, tagging, and pulling fields out of text.
Give them clear, narrow work — deep reasoning is not their job.
Best at
- Very low cost at volume
- Fast replies
- Tagging and extraction
Watch out for
- Weaker on multi-step logic
- Can miss nuance in long documents
Try it yourself
